Construction-stage engineering
Responses to site and vendor queries against the approved design basis, with revised drawings where the answer changes the design.
Engineering service · as contracted
Design checking, technical offer and GTP review, vendor drawing review against the approved specification, inspection and test witnessing, SCADA and interface engineering, and site, commissioning and O&M technical support, so deviations are raised before they become site problems.
Suppliers submit offers, data sheets and drawings that must agree with the specification the project is built to. A review compares what is offered with what is required and records the result in a form the EPC team or owner can act on. It happens at two points: during the bid, when offers are compared and scope gaps priced, and after award, when vendor drawings are checked before they are approved and used for design.
The same work applies to substation equipment, renewable plant and BESS equipment, line materials and HVDC station equipment. Where we prepare or review technical specifications for a client, we do so as its engineering consultant; approval of specifications and documents remains with the party the contract names.
The checks are drawn from the project specification; we do not substitute our own criteria for the approved ones.
| Check | Typical question |
|---|---|
| Ratings and performance | Do rated values meet the specification and system data? |
| Dimensions and clearances | Do overall dimensions and clearances fit the layout? |
| Terminal and foundation loads | Are loads and anchor details given for civil design? |
| Interfaces | Do cable entries, earthing points and bushings match the design? |
| Test data | Do type and routine test reports cover what the specification requires? |
| Documentation | Do drawing lists and data sheets match the MDL and the specification? |
| Scope and exclusions | What is included, excluded or left to others? |
Where the contract includes them, we support quality assurance beyond document review: vendor qualification and supplier audits against the project’s criteria, and witnessing of type, routine and factory acceptance tests (FAT). Witness reports compare results with the approved data and record observations for the client.
A point-by-point record of compliance, deviations and information still required, linked to the document and revision reviewed.
Technical comparison of offers on a consistent basis, with differences in scope, ratings and exclusions noted.
Where contracted, records of tests witnessed and audits carried out, with observations for the client.
Responsibilities. A review does not transfer responsibility for the supplier’s design. Technical acceptance, approval and commercial evaluation remain with the client, owner or EPC contractor as the contract defines.
Taken on as each contract defines. None of it is assumed to be part of a detailed engineering package.
Responses to site and vendor queries against the approved design basis, with revised drawings where the answer changes the design.
Signal lists and mapping sheets that follow the client’s control system design. Control system configuration stays with the system supplier.
Review of test procedures, witnessing of site tests, commissioning advisory and O&M engineering advisory.
Share the specification clause list, the supplier documents and the date by which comments are needed. We will confirm the checks we can complete in that time.
