Site, Commissioning & O&M Technical Support

Technical support during construction, commissioning and operation: responses to site and vendor queries, SCADA signal mapping, site inspections, commissioning and performance-validation support, project management support and O&M engineering advisory, as each contract defines.

Kinds of support

Each is scoped in writing before work starts. None is assumed to be part of a detailed engineering package.

Construction-stage engineering

Construction teams raise questions as drawings meet reality. We respond to technical queries against the approved design basis, review proposed field changes for their design impact, and issue revised drawings where the answer changes the design.

As agreed

SCADA, RTU and PLC signal mapping

Signal lists, mapping sheets and integration documentation that follow the client’s control system design, so suppliers work from one agreed list. Control system configuration remains with the system supplier.

As contracted

Site assessments and inspections

Site assessments, inspections and audits against the approved drawings and specification, with observations recorded for the client, including line and substation site supervision where contracted.

As contracted

Testing and commissioning support

Review of test and commissioning procedures, witnessing of site tests, commissioning advisory and performance validation for substations, renewable plants, BESS and HVDC stations, with the responsibilities set out in each contract.

As contracted

Project management support

Planning, scheduling and progress monitoring of engineering and site activities, resource and risk tracking, and hand-over documentation support for the client’s project team.

As contracted

O&M engineering advisory

For operating assets: drawing and record updates, design impact of proposed modifications, performance monitoring review and long-term technical advisory.

As agreed

Inputs, outputs and responsibilities

Inputs we need

  • Approved design basis and drawings
  • The query, change request, test procedure or signal list in writing
  • Vendor documents relevant to the question
  • Site access and safety arrangements, for site work
  • Agreement on response time and format

Representative outputs

  • Technical query responses
  • Revised drawings or sketches, issued under revision control
  • Signal mapping sheets
  • Inspection and witness reports
  • Commissioning and performance review notes
  • Progress reports and updated document registers

Responsibilities. We provide engineering and advisory support. Construction, equipment supply and the operation of the plant remain with the EPC contractor, suppliers and owner, and responsibility for field decisions stays with the party in charge of the site.
